Over the next 24 months, there will be a big change to the Indian T20 team, know about the Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma retirement news
The squad would progressively let go of seasoned players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravichandran Ashwin. This follows India’s humiliating 10-wicket loss to England in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 semi-final. Given that the T20 World Cup 2024 is only two years away, BCCI is now eager to make difficult decisions. For more information about the Indian Cricket Team, visit The SportsGrail.

The veterans’ time is up.
The BCCI will let Kohli and Rohit decide their future in the T20I format even if it appears that Ashwin and Dinesh Karthik have played their last T20I matches.
Nobody is ever required to retire by the BCCI. An individual must make that choice. But the majority of the seniors will focus on ODIs and Test matches during that cycle because there are only a few T20Is scheduled for 2023, a BCCI source told PTI under the condition of anonymity. If anyone does not want to, he does not have to announce his retirement. The majority of the seniors won’t be participating in T20 next year, the source continued.
But why would India’s world-record T20 winning streak-leading skipper be sacrificed?
Rohit’s age is the cause. By the 2024 World Cup, Rohit Sharma, who is now 35, would be 37. He has the significant responsibility of overseeing the ODI and Test teams for at least two years. He will therefore be resting a lot. India may consider divided captaincy with a new T20 strategy because the T20s running up to the 2024 World Cup will be crucial.
Since winning the 2013 Champions Trophy, India is yet to win an ICC trophy. The BCCI backed Rohit Sharma in putting an end to their winless streak. However, the Mumbai-born hitter hasn’t achieved the success he was promised.
The continuation of Virat Kohli is also in doubt.
Virat Kohli, the greatest fighter of the Men in Blue in the competition’s history, is also still waiting for the ultimate reward in the shortest format in addition to India. Kohli’s age is also not in his favour. He will be 35–36 years old by the time of the 2024 T20 WC, so it is unclear at this point if he will play. Fans can only hope that Kohli will continue to play in a demanding schedule across all sports.
But the T20 World Cup’s top run scorer (1,141 runs at an average of 81.50 with 14 half-centuries) will still be anxious to claim the rightfully his, perhaps in 2024.
