Former Home and Away actor’s girlfriend shares heartwarming update

Johnny Ruffo‘s girlfriend Tahnee Sims has shared a heartwarming update amid the singer’s battle with terminal brain cancer.

Sims posted a sweet photo to her Instagram story on Thursday of the couple, who have been together since 2015, posing for a selfie in Ruffo’s hospital room.

The former Home and Away star looked in high spirits as he appeared in the background of the black-and-white photo giving a double thumbs up behind his girlfriend.

Sims finished off the touching post of the loved up couple by tagging her boyfriend’s Instagram account and captioning it with three purple love heart emojis.

The 29-year-old has remained by Ruffo’s side since his first diagnosis, showing her unwavering support throughout his rounds of chemotherapy.

Last November, Johnny posted a lovely birthday tribute to his devoted girlfriend.

He shared a picture of the blissful pair celebrating Sims’ special day with a heart shaped cake as Ruffo kissed his girlfriend’s cheek adoringly.

In the caption, Ruffo wrote a sweet message expressing how “so very lucky” he is to have Sims in his life. 

The pair even spent Christmas together in Perth, sharing an adorable mirror selfie of them adorning matching festive outfits and smiling from ear to ear.

The 35-year-old told 9Honey in October last year how Sims has been his rock throughout his health battle, claiming that he “couldn’t do it without her”.

More recently, Ruffo gave a glimpse into his life as he shared a beautiful photo of him with Sims and his mother Jill all celebrating Mother’s Day together this year.

The three of them all posed while out for a lovely meal with their arms around each other, looking as happy as ever.

Ruffo was first diagnosed with brain cancer in 2017 before going into remission in 2019.

Sadly, the cancer returned in 2020 and in August 2022, Ruffo shared the heartbreaking news that his diagnosis was terminal.

“At some point it will get me”, Ruffo told The Project last year in wake of his new terminal diagnosis.

The former X-Factor contestant has since been keeping his social media following up to date with his health journey and has assured that he is “still fighting, still kicking on”.

In March, Ruffo revealed in a post to Instagram that he had begun undergoing another round of chemotherapy.
