Crystal Palace midfielder Andrzej Rubins has passed away. The cause of his death given an explanation
We are deeply saddened by the passing of former Crystal Palace midfielder, Andrzej Rubins. Rubins made 37 appearances for the Eagles and scored some important goals during his tenure at the club. The goal he scored against Liverpool in the 2000 League Cup will remain in the memory of his fans for a long time. Over the course of 13 years, Rubins represented Latvia in an international competition 117 times. There is no doubt that those who knew him will miss him dearly. Cause of Death for Andrejs Rubins:
When Andrzej Rubins died on Wednesday, the Latvian Football Association revealed that he had set a record for playing with the national team. Which made him 43 years old. The football federation has expressed condolences to his family, even though the cause of death is yet to be determined.
To further his career, Rubins played for teams in England, Sweden, Russia and Azerbaijan before calling it a day in 2012. We are deeply saddened to learn that former footballer Andrzej Rubins has passed away at the age of 43,” read a statement from the Palace. For his famous goal in the 2000/01 League Cup vs Liverpool, Rubins was widely regarded as one of the club’s greatest players. In the League Cup against Leicester City, he scored a goal from 30 yards which was equally impressive. The strike resulted in Palace reaching the semi-finals of the competition. Rubins began his professional career in his home country of Latvia before making a name for himself with Swedish club Stars IF. He joined Palace from Skonto FC in 2000 and moved to Spartak Moscow in December 2002 to join. Later, he played in Europe and Azerbaijan until retiring due to a hip ailment.
