England are preparing for their biggest World Cup test yet when they take on defending champions France this weekend.

The Three Lions swept past Senegal to reach the quarter-finals in Qatar and are now just three wins away from ending 56 years of hurt.

Gareth Southgate’s side have an incredible opportunity if they eliminate France with none of the potential last four foes representing the same calibre of skill as a Kylian Mbappe and co.

Who could England play in the semi-final?

If England beat France then either Morocco or Portugal await in the semi-final.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal are the higher rank of the two teams, ninth in FIFA’s latest rankings – four behind the Three Lions.

A Selecao will be the heavy favourites to make the semis having smashed Switzerland 6-1 in the last 16.

But Morocco may continue their storied adventure in Qatar as well and become the first African nation to reach the last four.

The World Cup’s surprise package are 22nd in the world but finished top of a group that included Europe’s number one side Belgium.

The Atlas Lions then knocked out the 2010 champions Spain in the last 16 in a dramatic penalty shootout following a 0-0 draw.

Morocco’s clash with Portugal will take place on Saturday, December 10, four days before the victor face either England or France.
