Jakarta, Gizmology – The Minister of Communications and Information (Menkominfo) Johnny G Plate said his party has contacted the PayPal payment platform to register electronic system operators (PSE) in the private sector so that they can work legally in Indonesia.
“I have not received the latest update, but we contacted PayPal, and they are willing to register,” said Minister Johnny at a press conference in Jakarta, Wednesday (3/8/2022).
“And if you have a problem, we will help you. Registration related to publicly known companies will also be linked with their embassies in Indonesia,” he added.
As it is known, the PayPal service in Indonesia was blocked on Saturday (30/7) because it had not registered as an electronic system operator until the given deadline. In addition, the Minister of Communications and Information emphasized that the registration of the private PSE was not intended to limit the development of digital platforms in Indonesia.
“The PSE registration obligation is an effort to increase the accountability of electronic system operators operating in Indonesia, not to limit the development of digital platforms in Indonesia,” said Johnny.

For information, the Ministry of Communications and Information announced that it has normalized services from other countries’ independent Electronic System Operators (PSE), Yahoo, Steam, Dota, and CS GO after the service owners registered PSE through a government-run system on Tuesday (2/8).
In addition, the Minister of Communications and Information hopes that with the registration of PSE, the government will be able to introduce better policies for the development of the digital industry, including the domestic gaming industry.
“One of the efforts of the Ministry of Communications and Information that should be promoted through the use of IGDX or the Indonesia Game Developer Exchange program is to develop Indonesian content creators in the domestic game sector,” said Johnny.
In addition, the Minister of Communications and Information advises people who use electronic system services, it is recommended that they prioritize using electronic systems in PSEs registered in Indonesia.
“Avoid using electrical systems or PSE that are not registered in Indonesia. This is to reduce losses that may occur in the event of a crime or criminal activity in the private PSE electronic system in the future,” said Johnny.
