Major Material Redesigns Are Made to Google App

Google has been putting a lot of effort into making sure the Material You theming engine is properly integrated throughout the UI. The Material You is essentially a wallpaper-based theming engine that applies color across the UI to give it a fresh and contemporary look.

The Google app now better matches the new Search filters carousel design thanks to pill-shaped indicators and a bottom bar that is more aligned with Material You. While Gmail uses an even more minimal design, this is the shorter version as opposed to the taller kind that is typically found in almost all other first-party software.

Instead of using Dynamic Color, a blue accent has been added. After Messages and the web, the Google app for Android is the most recent to get a state-of-the-art account switcher. By tapping your profile avatar in the Google app, a switcher that uses Material You with Dynamic Color is now visible.

On longer lists with settings, the theming makes it easier to visually distinguish between items. The inside container contains the account switcher, Search history, Delete recent 15 minutes, Results about you, and Reminders. The words “Your data in Search,” “Settings,” and “Help & Feedback” are listed below the Google logo at the top of the page.

The Google app Settings have undergone a significant redesign with a dark layout and an AMOLED black background, which last but not least.
