Things are getting nastier between the Duke of Sussex and his brother, Prince of Wales following Harry and Meghan’s explosive Netflix docuseries. In his upcoming book, “Spare” Prince Harry detailed an instance where he was physically attacked by his elder brother, Prince William, and claims that the fight left him injured. Read on to know more about Prince Harry’s new revelations.
Prince William Shoved Harry On The Ground
In his new book, “Spare”, Prince Harry made startling claims against his brother, Prince William. Per an advance copy of this book, which is due to be published next week, it has come out that Harry described a detailed confrontation which took place in Kensington palace in 2019 wherein William called Meghan “rude”, “abrasive” and “difficult”.
Not only this, but Prince Harry accused William grabbed him by the collar and shoving him on the floor. As a result of this escalated fight, Harry was left frightened by his brother and refused to retaliate. Harry also sustained an injury in the back.
In the book, Harry mentioned that William wanted to talk about “the whole rolling catastrophe” of their relationship and struggles with the press. However, when he arrived at Harry’s home, he was already “piping hot”. When William complained about Meghan, Harry told his brother that he expected better from him, but William continued to remain irrational and escalated the argument into a physical fight.
The Story of An Heir And A Spare…
If you aren’t aware, the book’s title “Spare” is taken from an old saying in royal and aristocratic circles: “a first son is an heir to titles, power and fortune, and a second is, therefore, a spare, should anything happen to the first-born.” In the book, Harry accuses his brother of acting like an “heir”, unable to process the fact why Harry wasn’t content to be a spare.
A lot of insults were exchanged between the royal brothers, and at one point, Harry said: “Are you serious? Help me? Sorry – is that what you call this? Helping me?” Harry even claims in the book that he tried calming his brother by giving him a glass of water and talking down things.
He writes: “He set down the water, called me another name, then came at me. It all happened so fast. So very fast. He grabbed me by the collar, ripped my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor. I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me. I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out.”
Harry also claims that his brother instigated him to fight back, citing all the fights they had in their childhood, but Harry refused. However, William left and then returned “looking regretful and apologised”. Not only this, but Prince William also requested Harry not to reveal the incident to Meghan.
When asked by Harry, “‘You mean that you attacked me?’ “‘I didn’t attack you, Harold,’” William responded. But Meghan noticed Harry’s scraps and bruises on the back and he had to tell her about the altercation. “She was terribly sad,” Harry admits in his soon-to-be-released book.
While the book is set to launch, we can tell you beforehand that Harry has also made claims that his father, now King Charles, told his then-wife deceased Princess Diana on Harry’s birth, “Wonderful! Now you’ve given me an heir and a spare – my work is done.”
But again, the book is not just about allegations against the royals. It will give a fair tour to the readers about Harry’s schooling, bright career as a royal and his time in the British army. From his relationship with his parents to his amazing journey with Meghan, the book also contains some happy memories from his life. But again, Harry’s resentment of being the “spare” remains the unifying theme in the book.
In Episode 5 of the explosive Netflix docuseries, Prince Harry said: “It was terrifying to have my brother scream and shout at me, and my father [King Charles III] say things that just simply weren’t true.” He added that his grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, sat quietly and let them disrespect him.
Apart from this, Prince Harry revealed that he was initially asked for a “half in, half out” arrangement. This meant that Harry and Meghan could have their jobs but still work in support of Queen Elizabeth. “But it became very clear very quickly that that goal was not up for discussion or debate,” Harry added.
At one point in the episode, Harry recalled that he felt “nervous” and admitted tension was high, quoting his awkward family reunion at Westminster Abbey, where Harry and William barely acknowledged each other. “It looked cold,” Harry recalled, “but it also felt cold.”
Recently, the royal couple displayed a bold show as they received the “anti-racism” award at the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights ceremony in NY. If you are not aware, Harry and Meghan were felicitated with the Ripple of Hope award for their bold stance against “structural racism” in the royal family.
Harry has already done much publicity about the much-awaited book – from two interviews with US and UK broadcasters to this advance copy, fans couldn’t wait to grab their hands on these juicy papers. Earlier this week, Harry released clips wherein he said that his troubled relationship with the royal family “never needed to be this way” and he wants to get his father King Charles and his brother “back”.
“They’ve shown absolutely no willingness to reconcile,” Harry said in the clip. “I would like to get my father back; I would like to have my brother back.” Since stepping down from their royal duties, the royal couple has continued to criticise the British royal family. In another interview with CBS News in the US, Harry stated that Buckingham palace even refused to support the couple in public.
“When we’re being told for the last six years, ‘We can’t put a statement out to protect you,’ but you do it for other members of the family, there comes a point when silence is betrayal,” he revealed in his recent interview with journalist Anderson Cooper. The interviews are set to broadcast on Jan 8, 2023, while Harry’s autobiography “Spare is set to hit shelves on 10 January 2022.
