Samsung previewed a new prototype device, Flex Hybrid, with a display that combines two cutting-edge technologies at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023. It both slides and folds. What is the Samsung Flex Hybrid?

According to the company, the Flex Hybrid uses foldable technology on the left side of the screen and slideable technology on the right side of the screen. Users can watch movies and videos on either the smaller 10.5-inch display with a 4:3 aspect ratio or the larger 12.4-inch display with a 16:10 screen ratio.

It should be noted that concepts like these do not always make it to final products, but the Flex Hybrid on display is mostly consistent with Samsung’s current product strategy. As an early entrant in the foldable smartphone segment, the South Korean conglomerate currently holds an 88 percent market share. Last year, the company released its flagship foldables, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4, and it plans to release successor models this year.

The Flex Slidable Solo can only expand the screen in one direction, whereas the Flex Slidable Duet can expand it in both directions. The screen is only 13 to 14 inches in size, making it very portable; however, it can expand to 17.3 inches, making it suitable for multitasking, gaming, and watching movies.
