While onboard an American Airlines flight on Saturday (January 21), track star Sha’Carri Richardson’s vacation plans went awry. Before being escorted off the flight, she was harassed and threatened by a male flight attendant.

The flight attendants were about to begin their safety demonstrations when Richardson was on a call. Her call was allegedly ended by John, whom she identified as the male attendant. Her interaction with him escalated as she obliged.

Richardson wrote, “I told him [that] I didn’t like the tone he used. Following that, while standing in front of me doing the safety protocols, he continued to lean over to look at my phone. Finally, he asked to see that my phones were in airplane mode. At this point, he demanded that [I] show him, which I did in front of him.”

She recorded herself talking about being on vacation in additional footage of the ordeal. A moment later, John returned to the frame and spoke to Richardson behind a curtain. She replied, “I’m recording me, but you jumped in my video, so I caught you because you jumped in my video. You’re harassing me at this point, so I think you should stop. I think you should stop.”

After a male passenger called her selfish for causing him to miss his connecting flight, the 23-year-old maintained a calm approach throughout the chaos. However, her ban for the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 was allegedly sneered at by another passenger later that day. She was also advised to stop arguing with the flight’s staff with other passengers nearby.

In Her Questioning, She Wondered Whether She Should Sue The Airline

The recording Richardson posted to her page made her question whether it would have been different if she had been white. “Tell me if I’ll be wrong to pursue legal actions against the airline @americanair. Not only did the man threaten me, but also an innocent bystander who just wanted a picture with me,” she wrote.

Additionally, she said, “I’m pretty serious; the disrespect I received would not have happened if I was one of them… If I can help just one person not have to deal with a situation like this with an individual like this, I’ll take the heat.”

Numerous social media users expressed their support for the post, including pro football player Odell Beckham, Jr., who, during a flight earlier in the month with American Airlines, shared a similarly unpleasant experience with fellow passengers. According to him, “Tell me [you] got kicked off the American flight for no reason” and “Whaaaat, but I’m the a**hole.”

After Testing Positive For Marijuana, Richardson Was Disqualified From The 2020 Olympics

After testing positive for marijuana for the first time, Sha’Carri Richardson, an American sprinter who was going to be a star at the Tokyo Olympics, missed the Games. As a result of her positive test at the U.S. track and field trials in Oregon last month, Richardson was automatically disqualified from the women’s 100-meter race.

Richardson accepted the suspension of one month, beginning on June 28, as a result of the positive test result announced by the United States Anti-Doping Agency.

During an interview, Richardson explained that the positive test result was a result of the marijuana she had used in an attempt to cope with the death of her biological mother as she was in Oregon preparing for the trials for the Olympics.
