Shakira penned a heartfelt poem that she shared on her Instagram on New Year. The post had all kinds of emotions, it talked about healing, betrayal, trust and much more.

Many believe that the part her talk about betrayal was a reference to her former partner and the FC Barcelona player Gerard Piqué.

What Did She Say?

The Hips Don’t Lie singer started off on a positive note and wrote “Even if our are still open in this new year, time has surgeon’s hands.” She then touched on a personally sensitive subject and wrote “Even if someone has betrayed us, we must continue to trust others.”

Shakira then went on to encourage her fans by saying “When faced with contempt, continue to know your worth.”

The Queen of Latin Music added that “Because there are more good people than indecent ones. More people with empathy than indifference.”

In what might be another jibe at her ex, she wrote “The ones who leave are fewer than the many who stay by our side.”

Then she went on to share some more wise words “Our tears are not in vain, they water the soil our future will spring from and make us more human, so that even while suffering heartache we can continue to love.”

Cheating Scandal

Shakira was with Gerard Piqué for over 11 years before they parted ways. They met at the 2010 FIFA World Cup where Shakira sang her famous song Waka Waka A Barcelona news agency El Periodico reported early last year that Piqué cheated on Shakira. The report revealed that the singer found her ex in bed with someone else.

Rumors started that the couple was no longer living together. What added fuel to the fire was that Shakira did not include him in any posts that she shared on Instagram.

On Mother’s Day, she shared a cute post with her two sons Milan 9 and Sasha 7 years old. However, the caption of the picture was quite cryptic, she wrote “With one kiss they can cure it all and make it worth your while to keep fighting for them.”

Were They Married?

Although they were together for a long time, they never got married. After the cheating allegations came about, people wondered if it was Piqué who never proposed, but it was Shakira who was scared.
