Apostolos Tsitsipas, Stefanos Tsitsipas’ father was born on December 24, 1967, in Proastio, Greece. He is a well-trained tennis coach who studied tennis at the University of Athens. Apostolos previously worked as a tennis educator for a team located in Athens’ stylish rural areas.

He currently serves as his son’s head coach and travels with him during his tours. Apostolos met his wife, Julia Sergeyevna Apostoli, at a WTA competition in Athens where she was competing and he was a line judge.

Stefanos Tsitsipas is a Greek Tennis player born into a tennis family on August 12, 1998, in the suburbs of Athens, Greece. He has a Russian mother (Julia Apostoli) and a Greek father (Apostolos Tsitsipas).

Both of Stefanos Tsitsipas’ parents were tennis teachers at the Astir Palace resort lodging in Vouliagmeni when Stefanos was born. Stefanos can fluently communicate in 3 different languages – Greek, Russian, and English.

Stefanos began playing Tennis with his father when he was three, and also had a passion for playing other sports like football and swimming while growing up.

Career History And Achievements

Stefanos Tsitsipas started his junior career back in 2013 and quickly rose through the ranks. He started his professional training at 6 years old with his father and he considers Roger Federer as his icon.

Stefanos joined the Orange Bowl competition final in 2014 finishing outside the main 100 in the junior rankings. The following year, Tsitsipas played his first junior Grand Slam competitions, where he reached the quarter-finals in the Australian Open.

He also won second place at the Orange Bowl that very year, which moved him to the fourteenth spot in the junior world. The world no. 4 then joined the Patrick Mouratoglou Academy located in France, where he began his developments into a true professional. Later in 2016, Stefanos won his first major trophy by winning initial A class title at the Trofeo Bonfiglio.

His greatest success in his junior career was when he won the Wimbledon young men’s doubles in London, together with Estonian player Kenneth. The win made him the first Greek national to win a junior Grand Slam championship.

The 24-year-old reached two ATP finals in 2018, including his most memorable Masters Series during the Canadian Open, where he became the youngest player to beat four of the top ten rivals in a single tournament.

The four opponents he beat were Novak Djokovic (tenth), Alexander Zverev (third), Dominic Thiem (eighth), and Kevin Anderson (sixth). He has a career-high number 3 ranking, which is the highest ever in Greek tennis history. He is currently ranked at world number 4 in Men’s singles and 71 in doubles.

Stefanos Tsitsipas’s Siblings

Stefanos Tsitsipas has 3 younger siblings – Petros (22), Pavlos (17), and Elisavet (14), who are all tennis players in the junior ranks, except for Petros, who plays doubles together with Stefanos in the ATP Tour.

Like his brother Stefanos, Petros can also speak Greek, English, and Russian. Petros started playing tennis at the early age 5, and currently ranks 159 in doubles and 774 in doubles.
